Frankly, I don't think it's even as good as the packages that come free with Pentax or Nikon cameras. The RAW control simply is no where near the class of Lightroom, Bibble, Capture One, or SilkyPix. As it turns out, I've maybe done that 3 or 4 times over the past year. Checked the support pages, and he clearly stated that was his product vision, so fine.Īs for the RAW processing, I thought it was a neat addon to be able to print a RAW image without converting it for the few times I might want to do that. I checked out his downloader when it was first released, and found it didn't meet my needs, being overly geared to a 'single button push' mode of operation. The problem for me is that the new product has no value to me over Studio with the possible exception of the 'improved UI'. In that regard, I'm mildly unhappy, but understanding. Obviously, people do use price as a factor, and some of his sales were generated by 'free updates forever', but it isn't a sustainable model. I suspect he's in a 'change your business model or go under' bind. What does annoy me though is that Mike is clear that there will be no new features in the future for Qimage Lite/Pro/Studio so what did his previous promise of lifetime upgrades really mean? I sounded too good tbe true a couple of years ago and sadly it seems it was. I won't be upgrading, I get what I want from the Studio product and the new features, such as they are, are not worth the extra to me in these cash-starved times. At least Mike is saying at the moment he will support non-Qimage Ultimate versions with new RAW format, new cameras etc which is more than Mr Breeze did. Whilst I can understand both developers have to face hard commercial facts, no doubt it's difficult surviving against the mighty corporates, it does make you feel like you have been let down and my loyalty to that product suffers. I signed up for 'lifetime upgrades' of Breezebrowser and was happy using it for a couple of years then Chris Breeze launched Breezebrowser Pro which has the same annual upgrade charge and new development focus. I share your feelings and feel more than a little deja vu here.
